Summer Fun with Riley!

You always hear people talk about the terrible two's, but having experienced life with a 2 year old for the past 6 months, I'd have to disagree. Riley is an absolute delight - most of the time, at least! Don't get me wrong - she isn't perfect, but she is so sweet, smart, and full of life! We have had a great summer so far with trips to the water park and zoo, but this week we tried some new activities.

Our local city swimming pool offers an hour and a half session on Saturdays open only to families with children age 7 and younger. Riley and I went on a swimming adventure this past Saturday, and found that although the water was a bit chilly, it was very nice to have access to the pool area without the older kids around.

Riley enjoyed the pool. She was a little apprehensive at times (I think the cool water turned her off a little bit), but she loved the water slides.

After an hour of swimming, she was ready to relax poolside!

After we had some lunch, we went for a family bike ride. Riley and I have gone on a bike ride once before, but we hadn't had the opportunity to go with our whole family. We went on a short 20 minute ride. Wes had not ridden his bike in about 18 years, but we found that the saying "It's like riding a bike" is actually true. You really don't forget how to do it!!! Riley is very proud of her helmet, which is purple with puppy dogs on it. I think that we have found a healthy activity that all of us enjoy!!!

Getting Started - Summer Has Begun!

This is a crazy attempt to record some memories for my family. I am really bad at taking pictures, and wanted to do something so that my daughter, Riley, might have some memories preserved later in life.

This summer we have a lot going on, but most importantly, we have the chance to spend some quality time with Riley. We have already done so much - the zoo, the water park, our first bike ride (with Riley riding on the back of my bike), and I ran a 10K in Kansas City. Here are a few pictures of what's happening so far!
